U.S. Rep. Rush & University of Chicago Hospital Hold Senior Health Fair
Chicago, IL ---- Congressman Bobby Rush, the University of Chicago in conjunction with the Alden/Princeton Rehabilitation Center and the First Congressional District Health Care Task Force will hold a Senior Health Fair on Friday, June 20, 2003 from 10:00AM to 2:00PM at Alden/Princeton Rehabilitation Center, 255 West 69th Street, Chicago.
V103 radio host and voice of the community, Herb Kent, will be on hand to welcome seniors attending the Health Fair workshops, screenings and seminars.
University of Chicago Hospital will conduct screenings on diabetes; Alden/Princeton Rehabilitation Center will conduct screenings on Alzheimer and dementia; Jackson Park Hospital will conduct screenings on blood pressure, pulmonary, diet and nutrition; Illinois Institute of Technology will conduct screenings on vision; Luck Health Care will conduct screenings on HIV/AIDS, and St. Bernard Hospital will conduct podiatry testing.
There will be seminars given by Abbott Laboratories and Glaxo Smith Kline pharmaceuticals on their discount prescription drug programs. The Christian Community Health Center will have a mobile van available for on-site examinations. Congressman Rush serves on the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, which has jurisdiction through the Subcommittee on Health over public health and quarantine, hospital construction, mental health and research, biomedical programs and health protection, including Medicaid and national health insurance, food and drugs.
