Congressman Rush Holds 6th Annual Asian Pacific American Heritage Month
Chicago, IL. ---- Congressman Bobby L. Rush (D-IL.) and the Advisory Council on Asian Affairs will recognize the dedication of individuals, community organizations and media in the Asian-American community who serve the people of the State of Illinois during Asian American Heritage Month on Friday, May 14, 2004 from 5:30pm until 8:00pm @ the Ralph Metcalfe Federal Building, 3rd Floor, Room #331, 77 West Jackson Blvd., Chicago, IL.
The Consulate Generals of China, India, Japan, Korea, Philippines, Indonesia and Thailand will give remarks. In addition, the Consul Generals from Australia, Greece, Lithuania, Nepal, South Africa, turkey, Ukraine, and the United Kingdom will also be attending.
There will be traditional dress, dance and cultural performances from the Thai Community Musicians, the Langston Hughes Elementary School, Chicago North Chinese School, and the Kupaa-Pacific Island Resources Dancers. The program will be followed by a reception.
Congressman Rush is the only member of the U.S. Congress to have an Asian Advisory Board.
