Rush Statement on the Passing of Army Spc. Michael Isaiah Nance
WASHINGTON — Today, U.S. Representative Bobby L. Rush (D-Ill.) released the following statement on the passing of Army Spc. Michael Isaiah Nance:
“It is with great sadness that I mourn the loss of one of our fellow south-siders: Army Spc. Michael Isaiah Nance. Army Spc. Nance was tragically killed in Southern Afghanistan – just three weeks after his deployment to the region. Army Spc. Nance joined the armed services over two years ago, and served the army, his family, and his community and country with honor.
“It is a tragedy when any man or woman in uniform becomes a casualty of war, but it seems to hurt even more when that person is such a beloved part of your own community. Army Spc. Nance will not soon be forgotten, and his memory will live on through his family here in Chicago.”
