Press Release

WASHINGTON — Today, U.S. Representative Bobby L. Rush (D-Ill.), the newly elected Chairman of the House Energy Subcommittee released the following statement after meeting with Department of Energy Secretary Rick Perry to discuss priorities and goals for the 116th Congress:

“Among the host of issues that were discussed included a conversation on how to increase supplier diversity throughout the agency as well as the 17 national laboratories, including increasing opportunities for minority contractors and vendors doing business with the Department of Energy.  We also discussed STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) education, increasing agency support for minority–serving institutions, and workforce and employment initiatives, each of which will be central themes throughout the current session of Congress within the Energy Subcommittee.  I look forward to continuing our conversation and working on the initiatives that were discussed.”
