Rush Introduces Resolution Calling for the Resignation, Disbarment of U.S. Attorney General William P. Barr
WASHINGTON — Today, U.S. Representative Bobby L. Rush (D-Ill.) introduced H. Res. 757, calling for the resignation and disbarment of United States Attorney General William P. Barr.
“Since his swearing in earlier this year, it has become painfully clear that Mr. Barr is more interested in being the glorified gofer to the President of the United States rather than the Chief Law Enforcement Officer to the American people. In doing so, Mr. Barr has undermined the public’s faith in the Department of Justice and likely diminished the morale of the career public servants that he oversees.
“Equally alarming are his recent threats regarding the withholding of protection to certain communities who speak out against police brutality. These comments are an absolute affront to minority communities and fly in the face of justice, making a mockery of fundamental constitutional protections provided to all Americans.
“Mr. Barr has become a comely repulsive caricature of an oath taker in the government of our nation. As such, he should resign immediately, and subsequently be disbarred for his flagrant disregard for the Constitution of the United States,” said Rush.
