Expanding and ensuring access to quality, affordable health care is a top priority for me. I am committed to strengthening and improving the Affordable Care Act (ACA), bringing down the costs of prescription drugs including insulin, and increasing the public health workforce.

It is my firm belief that access to healthcare is not a privilege, but a right.  I am a co-sponsor of Medicare for All, and I fought repeatedly during the Trump administration against continued Republican attempts to undermine access to care and deny Americans the healthcare coverage they need and deserve.

WASHINGTON — Today, U.S. Representative Bobby L. Rush (D-Ill.) voted in support of H.R. 3, the Elijah E. Cummings Lower Drug Costs Now Act.  This bill, among other important provisions, lowers the cost of prescription drugs by empowering the Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) to negotiate directly with drug manufacturers for the prices of certain drugs that lack competition.  The bill passed the House of Representatives by a bipartisan vote of 230 192.

Rush (D-Ill.) and Larry Bucshon (R-Ind.) introduced H.R. 5200, the Prostate-Specific Antigen Screening for High-risk Insured Men (PSA Screening for HIM) Act, which would waive deductibles, copayments, and coinsurances for prostate cancer screenings for men who have a family history of prostate cancer or who are African-American.
