Health Care
Expanding and ensuring access to quality, affordable health care is a top priority for me. I am committed to strengthening and improving the Affordable Care Act (ACA), bringing down the costs of prescription drugs including insulin, and increasing the public health workforce.
It is my firm belief that access to healthcare is not a privilege, but a right. I am a co-sponsor of Medicare for All, and I fought repeatedly during the Trump administration against continued Republican attempts to undermine access to care and deny Americans the healthcare coverage they need and deserve.

WASHINGTON — Today, U.S. Representative Bobby L. Rush (D-Ill.) reintroduced an important piece of legislation that would require drug companies to properly label products that present an increased risk of suicide or depression as a side effect.
The Depression Effect Labeling Awareness Act of 2019 (H.R. 4404) was originally introduced last year by Rep. Rush and would amend the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act to require that the label of drugs with an increased risk of suicide or depression present such increased risk prominently.
WASHINGTON — Today, U.S. Representative Bobby L. Rush (D-Ill.) voted in support of the Continuing Appropriations Act of 2020 and the Health Extenders Act of 2019, which will, among other things, extend the Community Health Centers Fund and the National Flood Insurance Program through Nov. 21, 2019. The bill passed the House of Representatives by a vote of 301-to-123.
WASHINGTON — U.S. Representatives Bobby L. Rush (D-Ill.) and Katie Porter (D-Cal.) sent a letter to Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Alex Azar and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Administrator Seema Verma, calling on the Administration to consider the impact of both current and future policies on vulnerable populations receiving dialysis treatment. Representatives Rush and Porter are particularly concerned with the rapid explosion of dialysis centers in poorer, largely minority, communities.
